Jan Cupal

Strategy, Innovation and Business Development Manager at VERBUND

Jan Cupal (49) is responsible for Strategy, Innovation and Business Development at VERBUND Solutions GmbH, the innovation division of Austria’s leading electric utility VERBUND. He is leading the strategy of VERBUND for electrification decarbonisation of industry and transport sector. During the last years he was acting as a Lead Author and subsequent Coordinator of several successful TEN-T and CEF Actions focusing on alternative fuel infrastructure deployment in Europe and synergies with the electricity system.

Jan joined VERBUND in 2007 after working several years as a consultant on projects for the Austrian government and energy industry including OMV and VERBUND. He held several positions at VERBUND, including manager for Climate and Environment, Renewable Business Development and Innovation Management at group level. Jan holds a Master of Science from the University of Vienna, specialising on Theoretical Biochemistry and Complex Systems.
